Fresh working, tight budget, and asking about used continental, please, get the Myvi (or Axia/Bezza). Here's the reality nobody young wants to hear: a cheap used BMW/Merc has an expensive-car maintenance bill regardless of the low purchase price. One suspension repair, one gearbox issue, one electrical gremlin, and you're looking at RM3k to RM10k that a fresh grad simply cannot absorb. Parts and specialist labour for continental are multiples of Perodua. Perodua has the cheapest parts, cheapest service, best resale, mechanics on every corner, and sips petrol. Your first car should free you to build savings and your career, not chain you to a workshop and a maxed credit card. Buy the sensible car now, and when your income is solid and you have a real emergency fund, THEN treat yourself to the continental. Delayed gratification wins here.
I made the mistake, bought a cheap used continental as my first car to look cool. First year everything fine, then the repair bills started, RM2k here RM4k there, I couldn't save a single sen. Sold it at a loss and got a Myvi. Best downgrade of my life, wallet finally recovered. Learn from my pain.
If you really cannot stomach a Myvi, at least consider a used Honda or Toyota (City, Vios), reliable, cheaper to maintain than continental, still holds value okay, and a bit more "up" than Perodua. Middle ground. But never a cheap used luxury as your first car when budget tight, that's a money pit trap.

Perodua resale value is insane in Malaysia, a Myvi barely loses value and always easy to sell. Continental depreciate like stone and buyers scared of the maintenance. Purely financially, Perodua is the smart money move for a first car. Style can wait lah, bank balance cannot.
