Injured on the way to work, can claim SOCSO?

Yes, true, this is exactly what SOCSO (PERKESO) covers under the Employment Injury Scheme, and it INCLUDES commuting accidents (going from home to work and back, along the normal route). I claimed after a similar bike accident. Steps: 1) Get proper medical treatment and keep ALL receipts, the medical report, and your MC. 2) Lodge a police report about the accident as soon as possible, this is important evidence for a commuting claim. 3) Inform your employer, they usually help submit the SOCSO notification (Form 34 / accident report) because they contribute on your behalf. 4) Submit the claim to PERKESO with: police report, medical reports and receipts, your IC, the accident details and route proof. What you can get: medical expense reimbursement, temporary disablement benefit (a daily payment for the days you were on MC and could not work), and if there is any lasting disability, permanent disablement benefit. The commuting part specifically requires it to be on your usual route without major deviation, so if you detoured somewhere personal it may not count. Do it promptly, dont delay the police report. It is your right, you contributed to SOCSO for exactly this.
