What to wear for GLC interview? Full suit or overkill?

Got interview at a big GLC next week. I am Malay guy, usually office wear baju kemeja only. Should I wear full suit and tie or is that trying too hard? Dont want to look sloppy but also dont want to look pelik.

For GLC I always go long sleeve formal shirt tuck in, dark slacks, leather shoes, and bring a tie in bag just in case. Full suit is fine for management level but for exec/officer role it can look try hard. I interviewed at Petronas and Khazanah linked companies, smart formal was the sweet spot. Iron your shirt properly, that matters more than the suit. For the ladies, baju kurung moden or blazer with slacks also very acceptable and looks sharp. GLC generally more conservative so err on smart side, cannot go wrong with clean formal look. Also polish your shoes, interviewer notice small details.

Baju melayu is actually fine too if the interview lands near Friday or if you are comfortable, GLC very Malay-friendly environment. But safest bet still formal shirt and slacks. I wore full suit to my first GLC interview and the interviewer was in short sleeve batik, felt a bit paiseh but they said no issue. Better overdress than underdress lah.

Skip the tie unless it is C-suite level. Long sleeve shirt, dark pants, closed leather shoes, done. Malaysia weather also so hot, full suit you sweat like mad in the LRT before even reaching. Look neat and confident, that is 90% of it.
