Yes, this is exactly what SOCSO (PERKESO) covers, it's called a commuting accident under the Employment Injury Scheme, an accident during the normal route between home and work is claimable. Steps: (1) Lodge a POLICE REPORT as soon as possible, this is crucial, the report establishes the accident happened on your usual route. (2) Get treated and keep ALL medical documents, hospital/clinic reports, MC, receipts. (3) Inform your employer/HR, they need to submit the accident notification (Form 34/JD) to SOCSO. (4) Submit the claim with your police report, medical reports, IC copy, and details of your route. Benefits can include medical treatment coverage, temporary disablement benefit (payment while on MC), and if there's lasting injury, permanent disablement benefit. The key thing people get wrong: the route must be your normal direct route without major detour (if you went shopping first and then accident, can be disputed). Do the police report early, that's the number one thing. Your HR should help but you can also go to any PERKESO office directly.

Go straight to the nearest PERKESO office if your HR is slow or clueless, the officers there are helpful and will tell you exactly what forms needed. Bring IC, police report, medical documents, employment details. Don't only rely on HR, follow up yourself so it doesn't drag for months.

I claimed for a commuting accident before, the POLICE REPORT within 24 hours is the make-or-break document, don't skip it thinking injury small. My colleague delayed his report and had a hard time proving the claim. Report first, worry about the rest later. SOCSO covered my treatment and MC days pay.

Make sure your employer actually registered you and pays your SOCSO contributions (check your payslip for the PERKESO deduction). Some dodgy employers don't contribute properly, then claim rumit. If they didn't register you but were supposed to, SOCSO can still pursue them and you may still be covered. Check your contribution history on the PERKESO portal.
