Depends who issued it: PDRM/JPJ traffic summons vs local council (MBPJ, DBKL etc) parking compound are different systems. For a genuinely unfair one, appealing is worth it and free, you got nothing to lose except a bit of time. For PDRM saman, you can appeal online through the official portal or write in with your reason and evidence (photos, receipts showing you paid parking, signage that was unclear). For council compounds, go to their counter or portal and state your case, sometimes they reduce or waive. Realistically: if you have solid evidence you were wronged (e.g. the parking machine was rosak, or no clear signage), appeal, decent chance of reduction. If you genuinely parked wrong, they often still offer discount promos periodically, so wait for a discount campaign rather than appeal a losing case. Just don't ignore it, unpaid summons can block your roadtax renewal and pile up.
I appealed a parking compound with a photo showing the parking meter was out of order that day and they cancelled it fully. Took 10 minutes online. Always snap photos when something looks unfair, evidence is what makes an appeal work. Without proof, just your word, harder.

If it's a small amount and you actually parked wrong, sometimes just wait for the discount season (they announce saman discount campaigns, RM300 becomes RM50 sometimes). Fighting a valid saman usually just delays and you pay anyway. Pick your battles lah.
Whatever you do, don't let it rot. Check all your summons on MyeG or the PDRM/JPJ portal regularly. Unpaid ones can stop you renewing roadtax or even get a warrant for the serious ones. Settle or appeal, but don't just ignore and forget, it comes back to bite.
