Fresh grad with degree, what gaji is reasonable in KL now?

Just graduated engineering. Companies offering me RM2800 to RM3200. Is this normal or are they lowballing me?

RM2800 to RM3200 for a fresh engineer in Klang Valley is unfortunately quite normal for local SME and consultancy. It's low, I know, but that's the reality for entry level here. If you can get into an MNC, oil and gas, or semiconductor (Penang), fresh grad can hit RM3.5k to RM4.5k. My advice: for your FIRST job, prioritise learning and a good brand name over an extra RM300. A solid first company sets your whole trajectory. After 2 to 3 years with real experience you can jump to RM5k to RM6k quite easily. Also negotiate the whole package, some offer lower basic but got allowance, bonus and proper training.

Depends on the field lah. IT and software fresh can ask higher, 3.5 to 4k. Civil and mech notoriously low. Chemical and petrochemical the highest. If you willing to relocate to Penang or JB the factory pay usually better than KL office jobs.

Cost of living in KL damn high, with 3k you can barely survive after rent and kereta. If boleh, stay with parents the first few years to save hard. The gaji will grow, don't panic and don't compare with your friend who got 5k, everyone's path different.

Bro RM3k is robbery honestly but everyone starts somewhere. I started at 2.5k in civil engineering, cried inside every payday. Moved after 18 months to 4.5k. Just get the first job, build the CV, then run to a better one. First job is a stepping stone, not your forever.
