Burnout from corporate job, how do you all cope?

Feel drained everyday, no motivation. Maybe not depression but I'm so tired of the rat race. Any advice on coping?

Been there, corporate burnout is real even when it's "not clinical depression". First, please don't dismiss it, chronic exhaustion and zero motivation CAN slide into depression, so monitor yourself honestly. Practical things that helped me: (1) Actually take your annual leave, a real break with phone off, not a staycation where you still check email. (2) Set boundaries, stop replying work messages after hours, the world won't collapse, I promise. (3) Move your body, even a 20 minute evening walk resets my head more than I expected. (4) Talk to someone, a friend, or if it's heavy, Talian Kasih (15999) or Befrienders (03-76272929) are free and confidential in Malaysia. (5) Reflect on whether it's THIS job or the whole path, sometimes a change of company/role fixes it, sometimes you need a bigger rethink. Burnout is your body telling you the current pace is unsustainable, listen to it before it forces you to. You are not weak for feeling this.

What worked for me was finding meaning OUTSIDE work. I stopped expecting my job to fulfil me and started a small hobby (photography) on weekends. Once work became "just a job that pays", the pressure in my head dropped a lot. The rat race only wins if you let it define your whole self worth.

Small daily things add up lah. Sleep enough, cut the doomscrolling before bed, eat proper not just mamak at midnight, and protect one day fully for yourself on weekend. I also learned to say "no" to extra work that's not mine. Boundaries is self care, not laziness. Take care of yourself first.

Sometimes burnout is really a sign the job/boss is toxic, not that you weak. I thought I was burning out but actually it was a horrible manager. Changed company, same industry, and suddenly I had energy again. Reflect whether it's you needing rest or the environment being poison.
