Want to start Shopee side hustle while working full time, realistic?
Gaji tak cukup with inflation, thinking of selling on Shopee as side income. But I work 9-6 and no experience in ecommerce. Is it still worth starting now, or market dah too saturated? What should a beginner sell and expect?

Doing Shopee part time for 2 years, still keep my day job. Realistic expectations first: it is NOT fast money, first few months you might earn peanuts while you learn. Saturated yes, but there is always room if you find a niche and give good service. Beginner tips: (1) dont dropship random China junk everyone sells - pick something you understand or can source locally with a story. (2) Start with low inventory, dont sink your savings. (3) Product photos and clear listing description win half the battle. (4) Reply customer chat fast, ratings and response rate boost your ranking. (5) Watch your margins after Shopee fees, shipping subsidy, and free shipping programs - a lot of newbies "sell a lot" but actually rugi. Treat first 6 months as paid learning. Consistency beats hype lah.
Time management is the real challenge with a 9-6. Packing orders after work every night gets tiring fast. I batch pack twice a week and use scheduled pickup. Also consider TikTok Shop now, the traffic is crazy and cheaper to get views than Shopee ads. Many sellers doing both platforms.
Honestly if you just want extra income and hate the packing hassle, consider selling digital products or a skill-based service (design, tutoring, resume writing) instead of physical goods. No inventory, no shipping headache, higher margin. Shopee not the only way to side hustle lah.

Register SSM early once you making sales, and keep records for LHDN, side income is still taxable ah. Also separate a small bank account for the business so you can track profit properly, dont mix with personal money or you never know if you actually untung.
