Employment
The notice period is the advance warning either an employer or employee must give before ending an employment contract. The length is stated in your appointment letter or contract; where it is silent, the Employment Act sets minimum periods that increase with length of service. Instead of serving notice, a party may pay salary in lieu of notice to leave immediately. Notice protects both sides by allowing time to hand over work or find a replacement. Dismissal for serious misconduct may not require notice. Exact durations depend on your contract and law and are subject to the latest rules.
