Choose tadika or nursery for my 4 year old, how to decide?
Both me and wife work full time. Confused between tadika, nursery and montessori. Budget around RM600 a month. What should I prioritise?

Quick clarity: nursery (taska) usually focuses on care and is for younger kids or full day, tadika is kindergarten with more structured learning (usually half day, ages 4 to 6), montessori is a teaching method that can be either. Since both of you work full day, the practical question is hours, not just curriculum. At 4 years old, a tadika with full day care or a taska with education elements makes sense. For RM600, you can get a decent neighbourhood tadika, montessori branded ones usually cost more (RM1k plus). Honestly at this age, the teacher and the safety and hygiene matter WAY more than the fancy method name. Go visit, see the teacher to child ratio, see how they handle the kids, talk to other parents. A caring teacher beats a fancy brochure every time.

Check that the place is registered with JKM (for taska) or the Ministry of Education (for tadika). A lot of home based ones are unregistered, cheaper but no safety oversight. Ask to see the cert. My friend learned the hard way when an unregistered one suddenly closed and vanish with the fees.

Don't over-invest in academics at 4 lah, they should be playing and socialising, not doing worksheets all day. I chose a place with big outdoor space over the one that boasted "reading at 4". My kid turned out fine and actually enjoys learning because it wasn't forced early.

Location near your house or your work is underrated. You will be doing drop off and pick up every single day, rain or shine, jam or no jam. A slightly cheaper place 20 minutes away drained me. We switched to one 5 minutes from home, life changed.
