Motor accident on the way to work, can I claim SOCSO?
I fell off my motor on the way to work last week, cedera tangan, MC 2 weeks. Someone said this counts as work injury and SOCSO can cover. Is commuting accident claimable and how do I make the claim?

Yes! Commuting accident (kemalangan semasa perjalanan) on your usual route to/from work IS covered under SOCSO Employment Injury Scheme - many people dont know this. Steps: (1) Lodge a police report ASAP (very important, they will ask for it, ideally within 24 hours but do it now if you havent). (2) Get treatment and keep ALL medical receipts, MC, and the panel/hospital documents. (3) Notify your employer immediately - they need to submit the accident report (Form 34/ SOCSO notification) to PERKESO. (4) Submit the claim at any SOCSO/PERKESO office or online with: police report, medical reports, MC, your IC, and the accident details showing it was on your normal work route. SOCSO can cover medical, and pay Temporary Disablement Benefit for your MC days (a % of your wage). Do it fast, there are time limits. I claimed for a similar motor accident and got my MC period compensated.

Make sure your employer actually contributes SOCSO for you (check your payslip). If they didnt register/pay, you may still be able to claim and PERKESO will go after the employer, but it complicates things. For most legit jobs you are covered. Push your HR to help submit, it is their responsibility too.

Key thing: it must be your NORMAL route without major detour. If you detoured to send kid to school or personal errand, the claim can get complicated. Also the police report timing matters - do it now, dont delay, delays raise questions. Keep everything documented.
