Got a counter-offer after resigning, should I take it?

I resigned last week and my current company suddenly offered me RM1,500 more to stay, matching the new company. Part of me feels good to be wanted but part of me feels like they only value me now because I'm leaving. Confused betul. Anyone accepted a counter-offer before, how did it go?

I accepted a counter-offer once and regretted it within 6 months. The reason I wanted to leave (bad manager, no growth) didn't change, only the number changed. Plus my boss started treating me differently, like I was a flight risk, and I got passed over for a project because of it. The money felt nice for one payslip then the same frustrations came back. My advice: if you resigned because of money only, maybe consider. If you resigned because of the environment or growth, no amount of counter-offer will fix that. Ask yourself why you wanted out in the first place.

Statistically most people who accept counter-offers leave within a year anyway, and I was one of them. My company matched my salary but the trust was already broken on both sides. They knew I had one foot out and I knew they only paid up because they were desperate. Six months later they hired my replacement quietly. Take the counter-offer only if the new company is genuinely worse in other ways. Otherwise, respect your own decision. Once you've mentally checked out, going back rarely feels the same. Just my two cents from experience.
